This is a relatively quick knit, a weeks worth of evenings and a weekend or two. A great project for someone just learning to knit. The simple shape is appropriate for both men and women of all ages.
Your completed project will require between 700 and 1000+ yards of yarn depending upon the length you choose. The poncho pictured used approx. 700 yards of a heavy worsted weight 100% wool yarn. You will be working on #10 1/2 and #13 US, double pointed and round needles. The only other supply needed are 4 stitch markers - 3 of one color and one of another.
This is not a "fitted" garment so achieving a specific gauge is not important. Using the needles and weight yarn specified, the garment will knit up to the measurements indicated.
This poncho is easily adaptable to novelty yarn and would look great in a thick/thin cotton for the summer months.
Have fun! Happy Knitting!
These fingerless gloves are right and soft with just the right touch of warmth for that chilly office or statement outfit. They allow free movement of your fingers while showing off your lace knitting skills!
A simple diamond pattern runs up the back of your hand from glove edge to middle finger while I-cord trim finished the edges on your hand, middle finger and thumb. The body of these gloves are knit in the round in a light rib pattern. Thumb gusset is added for ease of fit and comfort. Each glove measures 7" - 8" in length from the lover edge to middle finger plus the I-cord loop. Each additional repeat of the diamond design adds an inch to the glove length. Photos demonstrate gloves with three diamond repeats before thumb, measuring 8" in length from cast on edge.
The PDF pattern includes detailed instructions, charts and written instructions for the lace pattern as well as stitch instructions.
Materials/Tools needed:
• Approximately 200 yards of fingering or sock weight yarn.
• US #3 double pointed knitting needle set of 4
• 12” of waste yarn
• 5 stitch markers
• tapestry needle
Sizing/Gauge:
Measure around your hand above your thumb, across your knuckles. This glove has a lot of flexibility and will fit a hand that measures from 6”– 8.5” around. If you are at either end of the measurements, consider changing to one size smaller needle for small hands or one size larger needle for larger hands.
Stitch count remains the same.

If you're like our family... we're "just in it for the t-shirt!" Whether it's a charity event, concert or sports team, the t-shirts accumulate fast!
This Market Tote pattern is a great way to put those shirts to good use, created out of Upcycled T-Shirt Yarn which is usually bulky weight. It is knit in the round on a US #17 needle.
The pattern includes a bonus tutorial to upcycle t-shirts into knitting yarn! As an alternative, bulky weight yarn will work well. Approx. 300 yards will be needed to complete the tote project.
Each XL mens t-shirt will create approximately 40 yards of a continuous strand of colorful, machine washable, cotton, heavy worsted to bulky weight yarn. Smaller size shirts will create less yardage. The tote pictured above used yarn created from 7 xl men's shirts.
If you're a visual learner, I've created a short series of videos for Skillshare.com that demonstrate how to cut up t-shirts and turn them into a continuous strand of yarn. Use the link below to join Skillshare and access my video tutorials to create yarn.
